Need more money flowing into your bank account? You're not alone. The disparity between our bills and our income is a reality many of us face, but there are practical ways to change this equation without completely overhauling your life.

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, this episode delivers three proven strategies for creating additional income streams that anyone can implement. We break down how picking up new skills – particularly in-demand ones like video editing, coding, and AI services – can position you to solve problems people willingly pay for. Best of all, many of these skills can be learned in just 30-90 days through readily available resources.

We also explore the power of content creation as an income stream. The most compelling aspect? You don't need to pretend to be perfect or have it all figured out. Your authentic journey, documented consistently, can attract an audience from the billions of people online who connect with your unique perspective. Someone needs to hear exactly what you have to say, exactly how you say it.

Perhaps most powerful is our discussion on consulting – leveraging the expertise you've already developed but packaging it independently. Many professionals are making hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars for their employers while receiving only a fraction in compensation. By offering your knowledge directly as a consultant, you control your rates, schedule, and ultimately your income potential.

Ready to transform your financial situation? Listen now and discover which of these approaches aligns with your skills and interests. The knowledge is here – the only remaining ingredient is your willingness to take action.

Speaker 1:

Welcome back to another episode of Pops and Son Conversations. It is your favorite, silver Fox.

Speaker 2:

And his son here. Check 3 Tom's.

Speaker 1:

Yes, indeed, and we have something special for you guys. It is April, it is still Financial literacy month, and so we want to do something special for you guys. Um, first of all, how you feeling, jay?

Speaker 2:

I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good. It's been a a busy week, but you know the grind don't stop. You got to keep hustling.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Super active. A lot of different projects going on. We've been rocking out on our special WCW platform. We got some movies and some filming going on, so we've been active, jay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, super active yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so, speaking of active, we wanted to talk to you guys about some additional ways to earn income. So I know that this is going to be exciting, because a lot of people need some additional income. You need some more funds, man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I need some more funds. It's never enough.

Speaker 1:

Never enough. You know, we also learned that a lot of times. In order to get what we want, we have to help other people get what they want, and so the byproduct of that is blessings man. So we like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a big key right there. Helping others is going to help yourself.

Speaker 1:

So we'll give you guys three solid extra income, earning gigs, if you will, or opportunities, or strategies, and so I'm going to kick things off, jay, because you know, I know for me that you know, working a traditional job or even a career, you know, sometimes it's not enough. Even if it's a fulfilling situation, you still got some, some things that you need to take care of in the household. So, look, if you have a bank account that gets a bunch of debits, right, that means you need more credits, so you can't have five different bills coming out your bank account, but one income. So we got to, we got to make that right. So so, let's, let's get into it, so.

Speaker 1:

So the first one is going to be and I like this one particularly but the first one is going to be basically picking up a new skill set. Basically picking up a new skill set. Yeah, you know, sometimes, Jay, we get these degrees and we don't work in that arena. Yeah, but it's okay to get some additional certifications and get some extra training and then that way you can actually get more income doing something a little bit different.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I agree 100%. You got to think outside the box sometimes and, you know, really put yourself in a position to where you can allow those different streams of income to come in. You can't be so one-track minded you know, man, that's a fact.

Speaker 1:

That's a fact, you know. Sometimes it takes learning a new skill or getting some additional training to find out that you know you love something else besides what you do full time, so you can find a new passion and get into something different and actually make an additional income.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know. Another thing about it is you know it's one of the realest ways to change your life.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

Picking up a new skill. You know, like you said, it's cool to. You know, go back to school, get the degrees and stuff. But there's things that you could do and pick up and learn within 30 to 90 days that you could turn around and start making. You know what I mean making a profit off of, or just you know. It's that key to helping other people, because people are looking for well, people have problems. That's what I mean to say. People have problems and the key is just to be, you know, the problem solver.

Speaker 2:

You know I can't think of how many times I've wanted to get something done but I didn't know how to do it myself. So the first thing I'm doing is, you know, looking up, you know how to get this done, who cannot. You know where to get it done, asking around who could do this. So you got to be that puzzle piece to you know, just to kind of add value and be able to provide a service to somebody. So you know, pop, I actually got a couple things, um, a couple skills that I think would be helpful, um, especially in this day and age. So this is big.

Speaker 2:

So right now, um, stuff like video editing, you know we, we all you're working on our reels and our tick tocks and just different things like that. But when you you know you, there's a certain um element to it, to where you see you, you might see a particular room you're like man, how did they do that? How who can I get to do this? You know. So if you got that type of skill, people will pay for that. You know people will pay for that.

Speaker 2:

Another one is um is coding. Now, I don't know anything about coding, I'm not a software engineer or whatever it is but but you know there's people you know that build these different apps and websites and things like that. But apparently it's fairly easy to, or there's enough resources out there and online that you could learn it if you really put your mind, put your head to it. So, and that pays Like people trust me, you know the coding. And then another thing too is like with just different services, like like AI and things even that you know you could learn through that. So that's another one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, those are some solid ones, for sure that you can actually get a certification. And then you can, you can be the outsource for somebody's brand or somebody's company or somebody's business. So that's good. So let's jump into number two. So the second one and I think this one is something that a lot of people are interested in doing but maybe don't know the steps.

Speaker 1:

But you know, starting your own content channel, you know. So of course, we're talking about, you know your podcast, talking about your Instagram, your YouTube, your Twitch, all of those things, man, you can go ahead and start your content channel for free. That's one of the beautiful things about it. And you know, jay man, a lot of people, they, they do content anyway, right, they do content, you know, with their dog, their cat.

Speaker 1:

I don't know what it is about alligators, but that is all up and through my algorithm, man, I'm seeing out, I'm seeing alligators, crocs. One time I saw alligator and a croc fighting. I'm like, wait, oh man, is this ai or is this the real deal? But it looked like it was interesting. But you know, you can actually start, you know, finding a niche in your, your content channel. So if you're somebody who you know likes to uh make gardens, create gardens and and, uh, you know, show people how to get good soil and plant man. That I think that'd be great man. I actually I need to be trying to do that because I don't eat enough vegetables, so maybe if I had a content channel about gardening, that would force me to to do better yeah, we gotta.

Speaker 2:

You know vegetables are important. I love broccoli. Okay, like, how do you do that? I need to find out who's growing the broccoli man.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, um isn't that like uh, gmo or something like that?

Speaker 2:

yeah, I heard that it says like a man it didn't exist in a while before we we did, like some type of cross, uh, germination or something, but anyway, um. So yeah, I agree with you. Pop the content channel super important and one of the great things about it too, which I actually learned this from you it's really about your story and your process and your journey, you know. So you don't have to just come out the gate with you know, just looking fly and flashy or looking like you got it all put together, because the journey is what people really connect with. Somebody needs to hear whatever you have to say. You have your own perspective and you've been through your own issues to get to where you are and somebody could relate to that. So it's really good.

Speaker 2:

By kind of documenting and not performing, you know, yeah, we got the different. You know people that we like to go and see them. You know, perform or we like to act or you know whatever you might call it on social media, not just performing, but they're just showing you what they're doing on a daily, how they're maneuvering through whatever passion they have and just talking about what they're learning and what they're building. So I think that's really a real way to do it, and the coolest thing is that anybody could do it. Whatever position you are in life right now, you could start your content channel and say hey, come learn with me, me, come grow with me, and I promise you all these people out here in the world, all scattered throughout the planet, somebody's going to be tuning in just to watch your evolution yeah, yeah, just billions of people and, uh, I'm pretty sure that you can get a few hundred thousand out of the billions.

Speaker 1:

So, as long as you think big because you know a lot of times that people just think about you, know their, their local audience or they think about their family and friends and man the Internet you get access to billions of people, and so it's important to stay consistent and make sure that you're coming from an authentic place. Like you mentioned before, you know this is stuff that you already know, right, so you don't have to pretend you don't have to, to go through imposter syndrome or anything like that. You can be who you are authentically and you can share your gems, because there's people out here that don't know what you know. And that is a great position to be in, because you can share and you can come from a sincere posture and really help some folks out. So I love that. I love that. I'm digging that. Let's give him one more, jay.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so this will be the last one. This is also a good one too. Consulting, yeah. So think about if you ever helped somebody figure something out and then they came back to you and they took that advice and they changed some things for them. You know what I'm saying. You've already done, you know. You've done it before. You know you consulted somebody and helped them. You know get through something or get to something. So I think sometimes we overthink it.

Speaker 2:

Consulting is just, you know, getting paid for your brain. You know just getting paid for. You know also, you know problem solving, building and then teaching. You know. So if you could package that, you know maybe call it like you know, a strategy, session, power hour, whatever it is. You know, put your little spin on it, but again, somebody will, you know people will pay for that, especially if you have. You know, put your little spin on it, but again, somebody will, you know people will pay for that, especially if you have, you know, certain testimonials. You can show that you're getting results. You got. You know people that will vouch for you. You know you could go really far with that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 1:

When we talk about consultation and consulting in a business aspect of it, there's a lot of career professionals that are already doing that in their space. You know they already are in a supervisor or managerial position and you know they're helping the team reach goals and you're, like you mentioned, strategizing and a game planning, and so they're doing it for someone else right now, you know. So you take the very same skill that you are making hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars for your employer and you package that up and then you actually are now being outsourced your skill set, your professionalism outsourced. Your skill set, your professionalism you get to actually consult Right. So in the gravy part about that is you create what your, your fee is you create. You know what you're going to charge and a lot of times it can be a lot more than what your employer is telling you you're worth. So now we're getting really serious, we're getting deep with this thing.

Speaker 1:

When we talk about creating different avenues of income, I think consulting is one of the strongest methods that people can take their current skill and the skill that they've been trained and the skill that they have certifications and degrees with, and truly implement and utilize it in making it a source of income. You can make it your own business. You can work independently, create your own hours, create your own schedule, and it's a beautiful thing. I think consulting is one of the most powerful things and I see it a lot.

Speaker 1:

I see a lot of business professionals that have made millions of dollars for a company and they're like hey, you know what? I'm making this company tens and hundreds of millions of dollars and I'm getting a set pay. It has nothing to do with the profit margin that they are creating for the business. So, for instance, if you just close a $10 million deal for your company but you make a hundred thousand dollars a year, you make a hundred thousand dollars a year but just billions of dollars for this company, and they're telling you what you're worth, man, this is getting, this is getting deep. They're getting, this is getting deep, this is getting crucial. So I think consulting is is one of the most profitable and the most satisfying ways to create income. Uh, also create a new career where you actually get to guide your own path and journey.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it's powerful, that's powerful pop. So you know, hopefully, um, through these you know three different tidbits somebody out there listening we'll, you know, we'll be able to to grab something and maybe think about just picking up a new way to increase their value, increase their income and just add a new stream of income. We all need it, like we said, but it's about being willing Also having the knowledge. Once you get the knowledge, you have to apply it and got to be willing to. You know, to put the effort, to put the effort into it, but you know it can be done because people are doing it every day. So don't don't give yourself any excuses on why you know you can't generate more money than you already making.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, and that's what we got for you guys today. We gave you three additional ways to earn income. The first one was pick up a new skill, go ahead and grab that certification, that that new skill set, and get it going. Then, of course, you can create your own content creation channel that's YouTube, your podcast, uh, things like that. And finally, getting to consultation, be a consultant and utilize those skills that you already have so you can be an asset to yourself first and then an asset to a company where you can take them to the next level. So, that being said, hey, we're going to see you guys next episode. It's your favorite soul Fox, rob Malloy.

Speaker 2:

And you already know double check and check again, check three times, son. This is Pops and Son Conversations and we'll see y'all next time.

Speaker 1:

See ya.
